The spiritual aspects of the story line and the main character's struggles with faith are universal and ones I could relate to. The main character is looking for "Mr. Right" and has 2 men to "choose" from. Each possesses unique qualities and I think every Christian can relate to her struggle with the decision at some point in their lives. However, the story falls off a cliff near the end and just didn't make sense to me. I was disappointed with how the contest between the 2 men was portrayed. If you are ok with a good beginning and middle, and can skip over what I thought was a poorly created situation towards the end, then read the book. Otherwise, I would skip it. I would recommend "The One Who Waits for Me" by the same author. I read that one first and really enjoyed it, and that encouraged me to purchase this one.Product details

I admired what the heroine was trying to do in this book. I also felt the author did a great job of kind of reminding us that you really need to stick to a budget and that aspect of the book was pretty real. What disappointed me is that I would have developed the relationship with the sheriff far more. It would have been great to have a stronger conflict as to what the heroine really wanted in a man. Funny, but I didn't care for Warren at all throughout the entire book, so I had a hard time relating as to why the heroine would have wanted to seek him out in the first place. I don't want to spoil things here, but she also needed to forgive the sheriff LONG before she did once you find out what really happened. We're talking about holding a major grudge!
I enjoyed reading Now and Always by Lori Copeland. The story makes some good points, especially since the main character experiences for herself the attitudes that contribute to enabling abusive behaviors. As I read, I saw what she was doing and thought, "Now that's stupid." But when a person is in a relationship and really wants it to work, he/she seems to make all kinds of allowances for the other person's inappropriate and abusive behaviors. For this reason, I would recommend it for high school girls and others who are at risk for being involved in destructive relationships.
I have a few issues with the writing of it. Katie's obsession with lattes is overdone; her relationship with Ben should have been developed further; her interest in Warren is not quite understandable, and it's pretty hard to get frostbite or to freeze to death when the temperature is above freezing. The other thing that isn't fully explained is the location of Warren after Katie falls off the cliff. He didn't go back to the car, but no mention is made of where he is found.
I read this book and then bought it because I enjoyed the story so much I wanted to read it more than once. My heart was touched by the stories of the women Katie cared for and the ministry she worked so hard to protect. And I loved the interplay between Katie and Sheriff Ben. I was rooting for the underdog from the very first.
Typical Lori Copeland! I love her style and stories! I have leaned that I can not go wrong with buying her books. It is always that was well spent!
